Singapore taxes on a territorial basis. A person who stays or works in Singapore for 183 days or more in a calendar year is generally treated as a tax resident, with progressive rates from 0% to 24% (from Year of Assessment 2024). Employment income of non-residents is taxed at 15% or at resident progressive rates, whichever is higher.

What do I need to open a bank account in Singapore?
Personal accounts generally require a passport, a pass (if any) and proof of address. Requirements for non-residents are usually stricter; some banks require an interview and, under anti-money-laundering rules, ask about the source of funds and the purpose of the account. Some banks allow remote signing (from outside Singapore); approval is at the bank's discretion.
